I normally hate using shotguns in most first person shooter games. But I have found that they work greatly for defending in GoldenEye Satellie multiplayer mode. Normally each console has two ways you can access it, and a few corners or objects you can hide behind. Some maps you can camp a small area that will cover two of them. When I am trying to capture one, I will try and make sure its clear of enemies before I hack it. You will also want to check for mines.
A shotgun is a great gun for this mode; most of the time you will be very close to your opponent and shotguns are very powerful in GoldenEye. It will only take one hit to the chest for a kill, it is fairly accurate at medium range, and it has a wide bullet spread.

I notice console 2 is being taken, kill two enemies and retake the console. 01:28 – 01:46

I must warn you, this game was extremely laggy. I can’t believe how well I actually did considering how laggy it was. It was so bad I had to guess where they might be in the next few seconds instead of aiming directly at them. I will not play with the country code unchecked again.
I spend the majority of my time defending and recapture consoles 2 and 5. They are right next to each other, you can easily run from one to the other if you see one being taken, and you will have plenty of time to pick them off at the console. There were two players on the other team that seemed to be working well together. While one was hacking a console the other would be guarding him.
Needless to say I find a shotgun or a submachine gun works best for GoldenEye Satellite mode. Unless you like sniping, but I’m not much of a sniper.
