Golden Gun Multiplayer Mode

Golden Gun multiplayer mode for Golden Eye 007 Wii is quickly becoming my favorite to play.  The matches are always fast paced with few people camping.  Most of the time it turns into a brawl for the golden gun with bodies piling up everywhere at the gun’s location.

Favorite maps to play Golden Gun

Archives – probably my favorite multiplayer map for Golden Eye period. This map is small with many hallways and stairs that become killing grounds with shotguns.  These matches are fast-paced and exciting.  You never know when someone is going to pop around the corner and you have to have quick reflexes for when they do.  Sometimes you can only get off one shotgun shot before the other person picks you off with their shotgun.  Since the map is close quarters the power of the golden gun is greatly diminished against shotguns.

Outpost – I like all the buildings and places you can hide although sometimes people will camp in this map which becomes pretty annoying especially if they are a good sniper.  Most of the camping spots have two entrances making it pretty easy find them and

Industrial – this map is a little more open than Outpost, but it has a cool underground area that is awesome to have the golden gun in.  When I play this map after I get the golden gun I will usually head for the underground area or the train.  If you camp in the train it can be hard to hold onto the gun.  Most of the players will immediately figure out you are camping the train and head for you.  You can also be easily sniped if you linger too long in the trains doorways.

GoldenEye Outpost

If you haven’t noticed both of my videos for GoldenEye have been the Outpost map. I think it is one of my favorites. It has a lot of different areas to it where people can hide and snipe. Plus it also has some open areas and close quarters.

I really enjoy playing GoldenEye multiplayer on this map because the satellite receivers are well placed and battling for control of the third console gets pretty intense. Usually the team that can hold the third one wins the game.

My favorite parts of the video:
01:15 – 01:45: This is a pretty nice battle over the number three console. The enemy keeps coming around the corner of a building trying to get to the console and secure it. My teammate is sniping them from afar and I am trying to take them out with my assault rifle.
03:30 – 03:35: I spot an enemy sniper in a tower and take him out.
05:40 – 06:00: I sneak up and take the third console from the enemy.
07:25 – 07:35: I score a head shot from a pretty difficult angle.

GoldenEye matches are great for increasing your kills to death ratio if you are really concerned with that statistic. Since most players will be focusing on capturing the consoles, this gives you ample time to set-up a camping/sniping spot and pick off players. Although in this game I wasn’t trying to improve my kill to death ratio.

The game ends in a stalemate and this is pretty typical of the GoldenEye matches I’ve played. It seems like it is very difficult to hold onto three or even four satellite receivers at a time.

Conflict

Conflict multiplayer is like a standard free for all death-match with players spawning in random spots and there are no guns to pick up. Many of the GoldenEye Wii maps are small so often times I find when I spawn in a game with full players I will be shot at rather quickly. Right after I spawn I will try and get my bearings of where I am on the map and find some cover.

It is pretty easy to find a camping spot and sit tight for a while in GoldenEye. In every map there are corners where you can hide and have a great shot at a person before they will see you. There is radar and players will show up after firing their non-silenced weapon. This helps the campers locate players and then snipe them from afar. But it will also show players where campers are after they fire.

One thing I like about the radar is players will appear as an arrow if they are far away or on a different floor level. But if they are on the same level as you they will appear as a circle. This way you can really tell if you are in danger or not.

This video is a conflict game on the Outpost map. If you watch the whole video you can see some pretty good camping spots. I ended the match with 16 kills and 14 deaths so at least I had more kills than deaths.

GoldenEye Split Screen

GoldenEye for the Wii was released on November 2nd 2010. I couldn’t pass picking up this game. I headed over to my local Best Buy and plopped down the game and my Best Buy credit card. I played the original on the N64 for many hours with my friends and brother.

I called my brother over and we played split screen multiplayer for a couple hours last night. At first I was disappointed, because you can’t customize the characters with special abilities. All you can do is choose a gun and which gun you pick comes with preset abilities.

In split screen there are three game modes. Conflict, which is just plain deathmatch. Golden Gun, or GG as we liked to call it, where there is one Golden Gun on the map, and the player that gets the gun kills you in one shot, and you only live twice where everyone gets two lives.

We played conflict for a couple of maps and the game-play is a lot of fun. The controls are spot on and you can use a lot of different controllers, which is nice; although I don’t recommend using a Gamecube controller because the default buttons are hard to use. You can’t pick up new guns around the map, but when a player dies they drop their gun. I missed not finding guns around the map.

Conflict became pretty boring with only two people after a couple of games. We decided to play Golden Gun and that was a blast. It was fun racing to the Gun when the game first started and then trying to kill the Gun holder without being one shotted. We were only playing with two people I can’t wait to try it out online or with four player split screen and see how intense the action gets.
