Back in the beginning of March 2012 I noticed that Nintendo Week had a different beginning montage that didn’t feature any clips of Alison, one of the co-hosts. Instead it showed Gary and Dark Gary playing various newer games.
After doing some searching I came across several message boards all talking about the same topic, that Alison’s left Nintendo Week, and won’t be hosting anymore. This is pretty surprising news to me as there wasn’t anything said on the show about her departing. One week everything is normal, and the next they have a new opening and the show is hosted by Gary and Dark Gary.
The hosting by Gary and Dark Gary doesn’t last long as the last show of Nintendo Week aired on March 31st 2012. Nintendo canceled the show and is now airing videos of Nintendo Direct and Nintendo Update that doesn’t have a silly host and focuses on new game releases, and game-play trailers.
Although I did like the corny Nintendo Week episodes it was wearing pretty thin later during its run. I really like the more direct approach they are taking with N Udpate and N Direct especially on the 3DS.
On the 3DS you can view game-play videos of many upcoming games for both retail and games available through the eShop. They even offer demos for some games. I’m hoping they continue this trend with the new Wii-U.
